This Lacewood Telecaster is a truly unique example from the early 2000s Fender Custom Shop. The origins of this build are somewhat elusive—we haven’t come across another quite like it. It bears the stamp of Jason Davis, a former Custom Shop Master Builder, on the back of the headstock. On paper, it checks all the boxes for a classic Telecaster, but visually, it stands out in a way you won’t find on any standard production model. The body is crafted from lacewood, finished in a dark stain with a subtle burst along the edges. The birdseye maple neck is equally eye-catching, also finished in a dark stain that beautifully highlights the figuring. The bridge pickup has been swapped out for a Seymour Duncan Little ’59, giving it a full, punchy tone while retaining Tele character. The original Fender bridge pickup is included in the case. For a 23-year-old guitar, it’s in excellent condition. There are a few minor blemishes on the back and some light, typical wear throughout, but nothing out of the ordinary. Includes the original case.
