Details
This Rigel I-110 mandolin was made 2007 and it's in excellent structural and cosmetic condition. Rigel was best known for making instruments with carved, rounded sides that still had more or traditional mandolin body shapes. This I-110 reverses that concept and uses traditional body construction techniques to build an instrument with a radically different body shape. The top is carved spruce and the back is carved maple with some nice figure. The fretboard is radiused. The mandolin has a bright, clear, resonant tone that would work well for Celtic, jazz, old-time or classical but more aggressive bluegrass pickers might find the timbre a bit light for rhythm work. The I-110 is a scarce model and we were unable to get a handle on how many Rigel built but we would be surprised if they built more than a small handful. This is a well-built, sweet sounding mandolin. Includes a hardshell case.
