Details
Like all new Kamaka instruments, the HP-1 Deluxe 2 is impeccably crafted. The top, back and sides of the Deluxe 2 series are made with highly figured Hawaiian koa and feature a full gloss finish. The top and soundhole are ringed with abalone, which adds a lovely frame to the koa. The HP-1 Deluxe 2 shows how the Kamaka crew keeps raising the bar and making their fine ukuleles even better.
The Kamaka Pineapple ukulele was invented by Sam Kamaka sometime before 1920 and patented in 1928 and has since gone on to become an iconic design in the ukulele world. The Pineapple’s unique, oval-shaped body produces a resonant, mellow sound distinct from its traditional figure-eight-shaped siblings. We should mention in Kamaka’s nomenclature, they refer to a soprano ukulele as a standard. So, in the case of this fancy ukulele, the name standard refers to the size and not the level of ornamentation.
