Details
This ES-355TDSV was made in 1961 and, as you can see, it’s in remarkable, lightly played condition. Because this was Gibson’s fanciest semi-hollow thinline, they built it with all the available bells and whistles, including upgraded cosmetics such as a bound ebony fretboard with large pearl block inlays; extra binding on the headstock with a Super 400-style split-block inlay; and gold-plated hardware. It also has a factory-installed Bigsby vibrato, a six-position Varitone tone control and stereo wiring, which were standard on this model. Yes, it still has its two original PAF humbuckers. The neck pickup measures 7.25k, and the bridge is 7.47k. The wiring looks to be original and unmodified.
Its cherry red finish is still vibrant with very little fading. The gold hardware shows some signs of wear, but most of the plating is still bright. The nut measures 1 11/16” and the neck depth is .0792 at the nut and .0894 at the 12th fret. It has its original Grover Rotomatics. The finish is in excellent condition and has the usual light crazing we expect on Gibsons from this period. It includes its original brown and pink hardshell case, which is in similar clean condition.
