Details
Taylor continues to search for guitar tone woods that don't require depleting the world's tropical forests. The back & sides of these 500 Series models are from trees commonly called red ironbark, and it's hard, tough stuff that sounds great. These are often really big trees, leafy evergreens that were widely planted decades ago because they're drought resistant but offer lots of shade. But urban trees can get TOO big, and those are what Taylor harvests. When combined with a torrefied Sitka soundboard with V-class bracing, the result is a powerful, reverby tone with great sustain. While it responds to a light touch, it also offers lots of headroom for those with a more aggressive right hand, but without sounding overdriven.
