Details
We were very excited when Taylor announced the 858e LTD, a rosewood Grand Orchestra 12-string. Big 12-string guitars have been part of Taylor's lineup from the very earliest days, and for years they were one of the only guitar companies making them with rosewood backs and sides. This guitar features V-class bracing and delivers room-filling volume without losing clarity or balance. This limited-edition model has a comfortable radius-style armrest, a Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and Taylor’s ES2 pickup system. Before they actually play them, most people think that large rosewood 12-strings are going to be loud and booming but we find while they do emphasize the bass, they have a strong mid-range and a clear treble response. You can hit them hard and they deliver a rich tone, but they also respond well to light touch.
