Details
Martin’s newest model, the GPCE Inception Maple is crafted from a mix of sustainable and domestically abundant tonewoods, including an FSC-certified European spruce top, maple sides, and an eye-catching three-piece back of maple and black walnut. The neck, bridge, fretboard and binding are all made of black walnut. Here at Gryphon we have long been fans of maple flattop guitars, particularly when combined with a larger body like the Grand Performance. We find the tone has a great balance of bass to treble and it offers a lot of sustain and projection. This model has a satin amber fade sunburst finish.
The most unusual feature, however, is inside the guitar. The bracing in the top and back have been “skeletonized,” a term Martin is using to describe braces with strategically placed holes that reduce weight and change the airflow inside the body. We can’t claim to understand the mechanics of this new bracing system but we do know the GPCE Inception Maple is a fine sounding guitar that responds well to just about any playing style, from the light touch of fingerstylist to a robust strummer. The GPCE Inception comes with LR Baggs Anthem electronics and a molded hardshell case.
