Details
The D-45 Modern Deluxe combines Martin’s legacy of old world craftsmanship with some impressive contemporary features. This guitar has scalloped x-bracing and the body is constructed using natural protein glue, both features Martin used during the 1930s, the era when the modern flattop guitar was created and refined. The modern features include a carbon fiber bridge-plate, which is light and stiff and helps increase volume and sustain; a Vintage Tone System (VTS) spruce top; long wearing EVO frets; and an new asymmetrical neck shape that gives you maximum comfort up and down the fingerboard.
Cosmetically, the D-45 Modern Deluxe draws on the classic designs of the past and gives them a contemporary twist. The "torch" headstock inlay and Style 45 snowflakes on the fingerboard are borrowed from early '30s examples, but the colorful abalone here is bordered with a narrow line of mother-of-pearl. The binding is European flamed maple, an elegant twist on the standard celluloid. The top is Sitka spruce and the back and sides are East Indian rosewood, both of the highest quality. In short, this flagship of the Martin line is both a visual and tonal feast.
