If you've played one of Martin's recent 0-size 12-fret models, such as the 0-28VS, you owe it to your sonic memory bank to play this one. Maybe it's the torrefied top (VTS), or maybe the 1/4" Adirondack spruce braces that are both light and deeply scalloped, but whatever it is this modern Martin 0-28 is a close tonal match to the legendary versions from a century ago. Being from Martin's Modern Deluxe Series, it has maple binding, a delicate abalone headstock logo, and other touches that make it clear it's no historical repeat. Frankly, we're glad to see this model presented as what it is: a contemporary version of one of Martin's classic models, rather than a new guitar pretending to be old. Thanks to its small size and short string scale, this is an excellent guitar for songwriters or anyone who prefers an instrument that fits comfortably in their lap in a wide range of playing positions (such as when seated on a comfy couch or a bed). But when you need more volume, it's there, so you may find yourself not needing to reach for a bigger acoustic.
