Details
The 14-fret 0 is one the smallest guitars Collings builds, but it has more volume than you might expect from an instrument of its size. And while it has less low end response than larger models, it provides a uniquely round, punchy tone with the oft-coveted “small body character,” along with impressive volume and headroom. This example features aa Sitka spruce top, Honduran mahogany back and sides with tortoise body binding and butt wedge, b/w/b/w top purfling, a walnut backstrip, dot fingerboard inlays, and a simpler 1-style rosette. We ordered this 01 with a sunburst top and a satin neck finish, which many players prefer over a gloss finish. The 01 can double as both a travel instrument or a small OM-style guitar, equally at home on a couch or a stage.
