The Carr Raleigh is a small yet versatile amp designed to deliver both clean and heavily overdriven tones for studio use or in a practice setting. It pushes out 5 watts into a 10-inch speaker, and while that doesn't look like much on paper, this amp is surprisingly loud. It only has 3 knobs-volume, master volume and tone- and a clean/overdrive switch but with some judicious tweaking you go from clean, glassy ’60s American blackface tones to juicy, sustaining Brit-voiced overdrive. The Raleigh has a single EL84 power tube in a pure Class-A output stage, driven by two 12AX7 preamp tubes in the front end. We ordered this example with the Cowboy Tolex covering, which looks like a hand tooled leather saddle, and Barnwood accent panels, for a rustic look.
