Details
The Big Mon model, named after Bill Monroe's famous tune of that name, has been Northfield's most popular mandolin model. It's been Gryphon's most popular Northfield as well, and we've sold a lot of 'em, but this is the first used example we've ever offered. That fact is probably a better sales pitch than anything we could make up. This one has the slightly wider neck width, which makes it a lot easier for most of us to play but doesn't slow you down, in fact all most people notice is that they don't muffle as many notes. At first glance this 2017 Big Mon looks so clean you assume it rarely got played, but a closer look at the frets reveals some light wear, so the lack of surface wear to the finish, and the pickguard, can be attributed to very careful handling.
