Details
We don’t get many used Waldman banjos even though we sell quite a few new ones. (It turns out people just don’t want to let them go.) This model is called "The Chromatic" and it was made in 2016. Chuck Waldman built this instrument using native Californian tonewoods like black oak, manzanita and madrone. It’s in excellent structural and cosmetic condition and shows light signs of having been played. It features a 11-inch oak pot with a madrone tone rim. The shell is drilled in progressive depths in the same proportion to the fret spacing, hence the "chromatic" designation. The banjo is loud and bright and not at all "plunky" or dark sounding. It has good volume with strong projection. This Chromatic has a 25 1/2" scale length and a black oak neck that feels solid in your hand. The metal parts including the tuners are raw brass which will develop a nice patina over a few years. It has a manzanita fingerboard and headstock veneer.
