The standard instruments from the Santa Cruz Guitar Co. are pretty darn special so when they set out to make something extra-special it’s spectacular. This custom OM Grand is made from two of the most desirable tonewoods out there: Alpine Moon Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood. Moon Spruce is harvested in the Alps at high altitudes during a period in the lunar cycle when the sap content of the wood is at its lowest. This means wood is exceptionally dry, which produces an articulate, punchy tone with excellent projection and lots of headroom. Brazilian rosewood is , as you probably know, the wood that Martin and other companies used in the 1930s to craft some of the best guitars ever made.
The OM Grand has the same silhouette of a standard OM but the dimensions are expanded so the size is more like that of a Martin Jumbo or a Taylor Grand Auditorium. It doesn't sound like a Dreadnought, but it does have a deeper bass and longer sustain than a typical OM. Thanks to the fairly deep curve at the waist this body shape sits significantly lower on your thigh than a D model, so it looks bigger than it feels when you're playing it. The combination of the special tonewoods and the larger shape means this guitar responds well to a light fingerstyle touch or a more powerful flatpicking technique. This guitar is in excellent structural and cosmetic condition. There is a very light amount for fret wear. If this guitar was new it would have a list of just north of 21K!
Includes the original hardshell case.
