The Hoffman guitars crew in Minneapolis have had a long connection with Gryphon, and back in the day we sold several of Charlie Hoffman's guitars (but not this more recent one from 2011). Hoffman Guitars has always done a lot of repairs, which is a good sign because repair people know what mistakes to avoid. Hoffman's track record after building over 600 guitars over many decades is another plus.
This is an impressive 00 model, with wood binding and purlfing and a lovely koa-and-pearl rosette. It has been played, there's very light fret wear, but it's obvious this guitar has enjoyed very careful handling. It has excellent playability with good volume and a nicely balanced tone. The LR Baggs Anthem SL pickup does a good job of handling all plugged-in needs.
In case you do a search for Hoffman Guitars, be aware that their website hasn't been updated in about a decade. They're very much still in business and do post on Facebook, however.
