Details
This is a beautiful guitar that even those who don't normally like archtops can appreciate. Honestly, pick it up and play a favorite simple chord-laden melody, you won't think "archtop," instead you'll think "great tone!". Of course if you plug in, the floating pickup delivers those smooth jazz tones these kinds of guitars are known for, but I'm guessing a lot of players will plug in less often for a quick practice session simply because you don't really need to. Beautiful condition, beautiful wood, extremely playable with great balance up and down the neck. Guild's Artist Award model has a long history dating back to 1956, when it was introduced as the Johnny Smith model (Smith was a friend of Guild founder Alfred Dronge). Then Gibson lured Smith away in '61, but the Artist Award lived on as Guild's premium, and most expensive, archtop model.
This Benedetto Signature version more than lives up to that long and noble tradition.
