Most open-back banjos look a lot alike, and that includes this one until you turn it over. Bart Reiter did an excellent job of re-creating the rim with hollow tone chamber found on early Bacon banjos (circa 1910) and the result is slightly different tone and a more comfortable banjo to play when you're seated. But Bart didn't make these for long, as the extra time they required didn't translate into a selling price high enough to make these "donut" shell models worth the effort. Alas, none of the current crop of banjo makers has revived this stye of shell and Bart Reiter's version is almost as hard to find as the originals.
This example is in excellent condition and original throughout. There's only very minor fret wear and a few small finish dings. Come with the original hardshell case, with Bart's banjo-care advice sheet in the case pocket.
