Details
An excellent example of the Charlie Christian pickup ES-175. This one is original throughout except the tuners have been replaced with nickel Grover Rotomatics. It's stamped "SECOND" on the back of headstock below the serial number, but we can't determine why as it has no issues other than some hairline cracks in the body binding, which we assume didn't show up until later. (Gibson had fallen on hard times in the '70s, the "second" designation was sometimes used to allow discounting excess production) You have to look carefully to find it, but there is a faint "H J M" shadow to the finish on the headstock, just above the crown headstock inlay, from an earlier owner's stick-on initials. A great sounding and playing ES-175, with the meaty tone these Charlie Christian pickups are known for. Included is a recent TKL hardshell case that's an excellent fit.
