Details
Production on this 000-21 was begun in late May 1947, and while most of Martin's earlier "pre-war" details had already been changed, the herringbone backstrip still remained (but would disappear from examples of this model made a few months later). Despite the 77 years and miles this 000 has seen, it's in remarkably good condition. The lightweight Kluson tuners, pickguard, and bridge are original. A a lot of these late '40s Martins had bridges too far back and so play flat, last owner of this example had the long saddle slot filled and new saddle installed closer to the front of the bridge to correct that issue. A proper neck reset and refret was done when bridge saddle was done
The obvious crack in the top was repaired ages ago. Finish on top and neck is original, finish on lower side and back has seen touch-up/overspray. Crack in lower side, compression fracture to edge of top on bass side, and short crack in front of bridge have also been repaired. All bracing is original, bridge plate has had a narrow maple addition to bridge pin holes area to keep string balls and windings where they belong. This is a great playing, and sounding, rosewood 000!
Case included is a Calton flight case from the English factory.
