Details
This L-00 was made in 1936 and it has that dry, sweet resonance that makes 1930s Gibson flattops so hard to put down. This guitar has been played a lot over the decades, as evidenced by the wear on the top, but it has also been otherwise well-treated and there are no cracks that we could find. The playability is excellent thanks to a recent reset and refret by SF's Alan Perlman. The bracing and bridge plate are original as are the bridge, pick guard and finish. The original tuners are long gone and have been replaced Golden Age Restoration in the style Gibson used on this model. The neck is worn but not battered and has the classic 1930s V-shape.
Alan Perlman did an excellent job preserving the original bridge plate by doing artful small maple inlays around the bridge pin holes, which help keep the string balls where they belong. There are some patches of thin finish on parts of the bridge, which are leftovers from Gibson's original finishing as they glued the bridges down before spraying the top during this period. The finish on the body has been buffed, which makes it appear more shiny than you'd expect 80+ years-old lacquer to look, but the there's no obvious overspray. The Factory Order Number (FON) is 619B and while it is very faint, you can still read it. Includes a recent vintage hardshell case.
