Details
Not all late '60s Dreadnoughts were lucky enough to get Brazilian rosewood of the quality you see on this one: It's tight-grained, quarter-sawn, and perfectly bookmatched. Thanks to a recent neck reset and refret this D-28 plays as easily as a new one, and the black acetate pickguard was curling up so was replaced at Gryphon. There is some minor finish wear as this guitar did get played, but thankfully the finish is all original, as are the tuners and bridge. There is one small hairline crack on the side that has been addressed by Gryphon.
And we saved the best for last, it's a great sounding D-28. Martin began using rosewood bridge plates in late 1967, but they were small and light, unlike the large bridge plates that followed several months later. This example is from the first half of '68, and has the small bridge plate.
