Details
This Northfield Artist was built in 2024 and it’s in excellent, lightly played condition. Northfield’s Artist Series mandolins are built with meticulous attention to detail from the finest tonewoods. This particular example has a carved Adirondack spruce top and a 2-bar bracing system, the classic style used on F-5-style mandolin since the early 1920s. The finish is spirit varnish which is softer and more flexible than nitrocellulose lacquer.
This mandolin has an amber stain. Playability is enhanced with a fully radiused fretboard. This mandolin has a wide, 1 3/16-inch nut, which many players find more comfortable to play, particularly if they have larger hands. The Artist Series mandolins were developed with extensive input from Mike Marshall, are produced in limited numbers and never stick around for long. Simply put, the Northfield Artist Series mandolins are Northfield's best yet. Includes Northfield’s Airloom Tura hardshell case.
