The 5-string Deering Goodtime is our most popular open-back banjo and an excellent value for a beginning or intermediate picker looking to get into the banjo world. The Americana variation has a 12-inch head, which produces a warmer, plunkier tone than its 11-inch sibling. This is a sound that many modern clawhammer players prefer. This banjo has a 3-ply maple rim and it's fitted with an armrest. The Goodtime tailpiece is Deering’s own design and the tension hoop is rolled in-house from raw metal.
