Details
A very early Martin uke made for Ditson with their unique "Dreadnought" body shape. The lack of any dots on the fretboard suggest this was made in 1916 or very early in 1917. It still has its original maple nut and saddle, and wood friction pegs. Finish appears to be original with the darker stain and less transparent finish we associate with Martin ukes from the 'teens. There's a repaired crack in the back but otherwise the condition is excellent. Another feature common to very early Martin ukes seen here is the somewhat bulky neck heel.
