Details
Taylor earned a reputation back in the late 1970s and early 1980s for making exceptional 12-strings and the original 855 is part of the reason why that reputation was deserved. The Jumbo rosewood had a well-shaped, easy playing neck and a rich, nuanced tone that was capable standing up to robust strumming but still responded to a lighter fingerpicking style. The new Legacy 855e captures the look, sound and fell of that classic model.
The back and sides are crafted from Indian rosewood and the top is Sitka spruce top with the traditional X-bracing that Bob Taylor favored in the early days. The Legacy 855e resurrects cosmetic elements fromTaylor’s earliest days like the straight-ear peghead with a rosewood veneer, white binding, a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard and, our personal favorite, the mustache bridge. This guitar is fitted with a LR Baggs Element VTC electronics with soundhole-mounted controls and includes a special commemorative Legacy interior label.
