Details
Perhaps one of the rarest versions of a Gibson A model mandolin Gryphon has had in recent years. The white-top option of the A-3 doesn't turn up often, and almost never in this clean and original condition. These white top versions were only offered for five years, and all A-3s were discontinued the year this example was made. Need more? How about the fact Gibson introduced the adjustable truss rod in late 1922, as well. And rather than describe all the original parts on this A-3, it's easier to simply say that everything on it is original except for the strings. (And it comes with the original hardshell case)
But don't let all this rarity and originality blather hide the fact that it's a great sounding A model, and one that's highly playable. But you have to admit, that original shellac varnish white finish on the top sure makes a fashion statement!
