Details
This Gibson banjo ukulele was made around 1927 and it’s in fine structural and cosmetic condition. It has an 8-inch rim with the flat plate resonator, a maple neck and rim with a rosewood fingerboard and bone nut. The bound fingerboard has pearl diamond inlay, with a "The Gibson" logo silkscreened on the headstock. The binding in the bass side of the fretboard has been replaced. Dating this instrument is a bit tricky because it doesn't have a serial number or factory order number, but judging from the color of the sunburst, which is the same Cremona brown used on the F-5s and L-5s, 1927-ish seems right. We’re calling this a UB-2, but it’s possible it’s an early UB-3, before it got the fancier deep resonator with flange. Be that as it may, this is a great sounding banjo ukulele from one of the world’s great fretted instrument makers. Includes a very nice original hardshell case, which is even scarcer than the instrument.
