Details
This Fender Jazz Bass has a neck date of June 7, 1964, meaning it was built the year before CBS bought the company. We got this instrument from the daughter of the original owner. Overall it’s in excellent structural and good cosmetic condition. All of its wiring, including the pickups and the pots, appears to be original. The pots date to the 40th week of 1964. The neck is straight and playable and the Brazilian rosewood veneer fingerboard is in good condition with no divots. The clay dots are in good shape. The frets appear to be original and in good shape.
There is a large patch of belt buckle wear that goes through the finish on the back to the back and a few nicks here and there but on the whole, the finish is in fine condition. The finish in the back is worn away along most of its length. There appears to be a hairline crack in the neck, but it’s tight and you can’t feel it, so it’s possible it was there when the bass was built. The original case is included. Sadly, the cover for the pickup is long gone but the bridge cover, original pickguard and thumb rest are still there. The next owner of this bass will get a CD from the original owner’s country band.
