Details
This custom 12-fret Grand Concert was built in 2017 out of maple and cedar that our own Matt Lynch personally selected at the Taylor factory. It’s in excellent, lightly played condition with just a hint of fret wear. Although this is a relatively small guitar it produces a prodigious amount of sound. That’s because the 12-fret neck puts the bridge in the middle of the active portion of the soundboard, and the 18-fret fingerboard (instead of the usual 20) allows a high soundhole which also increases the soundboard's functional size. That means there's a lot of cedar top at work. Another benefit is the shorter neck brings your left hand closer to your body so less reaching and more comfort.
This is a big-sounding guitar but one you cradle rather than a guitar you climb over. The sound is well-balanced, and you have an exceptionally wide-ranging tone control since you can play with your right hand between the soundhole and bridge for clarity and crunch, or with your right hand just below the end of the fingerboard for smoother chords and a rich mellow tone. The original hardshell case is in equally clean condition.
