Fender’s Stories Collection celebrates iconic artists and the instruments they used to create the music we know and love. Mike Campbell is no exception—his melodic lead guitar work with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers helped shape some of rock’s most memorable tracks. One of Mike’s most recognizable guitars is his 1972 “Red Dog” Telecaster, heard on classic tracks like “Refugee” and featured prominently in its music video. The Stories Collection Mike Campbell “Red Dog” Telecaster is a faithful tribute to that iconic instrument. Finished in a custom nitrocellulose “Red Dog Red”, it captures the unique vibe of the original. It features a vintage-style one-piece maple neck with a 7.25” radius and 21 frets for that true old-school feel. The guitar is loaded with two vintage-style humbuckers and a traditional Tele bridge pickup, offering a broad range of versatile, usable tones. The onboard “Destruct” boost circuit provides up to 34dB of gain, perfect for pushing the front end of a tube amp. A Bigsby tremolo adds expressive pitch control and remains impressively stable. Custom accessories include a vintage-style hardshell case, strap, picks, and a certificate of authenticity—making this a standout piece for collectors and players alike.
