Details
This Custom Taylor was designed by our own Matt Lynch. Here's what he has to say about it: There's a red cedar top under the thin black finish, with V-class bracing, and combined with a 12-fret neck layout the result is a powerful Grand Concert with a lot more volume than you'd expect. I wanted a stunning appearance to go with the bigger-than-it-looks tone, and the black top, wide abalone rosette, and colorful bridge inlay makes for a stage guitar that really pops under the lights. But the 12-frets-clear design puts the bridge closer to the middle of the soundboard, and brings your left hand closer to your body, so this is also a great guitar for tucking under your arm when songwriting, or playing in a comfy chair (or even in bed). The ES2 pickup system covers you when it's time to plug in. This custom Taylor will change your mind about how much sound you can get from a small guitar without bashing on it, I hope you like it. -Matt
About Gryphon’s Aged Maple:
The back and sides were milled from big slabs of figured maple Gryphon's co-founders bought fifty years ago when they were making a lot of banjo necks. This was before the retail store was opened, and once that happened repairs and restoration quickly put most building projects on the back burner, where they stayed as demand for repairs changed Gryphon's direction. This maple has been stored in Gryphon's attic ever since, but Andy Powers and the crew at Taylor has helped us finally put it to good use.
