Details
This Red Valley AMD Mandola was crafted by James Wilson in his workshop in Boise, Idaho. The top is sitka spruce with rosewood binding and the back and sides are figured maple. The neck is maple and the fretboard is ebony. The AMD has a satin finish and a very simple appearance but the robust tone more than makes up for the lack of fanciness. The scale length is 17-inches and its tuned CGDA, one fifth below a standard mandolin. Mandolas are a great way to add a bit of low end response to your band and the longer scale length and wider nut make them easier for guitarists to get used to.
