The Dobson Professional is a fancier version of one of Pisgah's most popular models, the Dobson Standard. It has an 11-inch head and a short, 25.5" scale length, a slotted headstock fitted with Gotoh tuning machines, copper fret markers, and a fretboard with an S-shaped frailing scoop. This model has a maple shell fitted with a Dobson tone ring. This brass tone ring was the hottest thing going in the banjo world of the 1880s and in the past decade it has found favor with contemporary clawhammer players looking for a tone that balances a woody, mellow timbre with clarity and projection. The maple neck has a graceful 'boat heel' design with a lot of heft to it. Includes a padded gig bag.
