A 14-fret rosewood 00 is something Martin never did back in the day, despite their mahogany 00-18 being one of the best selling models. We were overjoyed when they started offering a herringbone-trimmed 00-28, and now Martin has taken it even further with a Modern Deluxe version. The torrified (VTS) spruce top and carbon fiber bridge plate give extra zing to its tone, and the curly maple binding and gold Waverly tuners are nice additions to the standard 00-28's appearance. Best of all it has the big-tone-in-small-package advantage over larger guitars, plus the easy playability of a shorter string scale. Think of this 00-28 Modern Deluxe as an OM in a smaller, more playable package.
