Details
The Gold Star GF-100FE was inspired by the Mastertone banjos of the early 1930s. This particular instrument is based on the RB-3 that Don Reno got from Earl Scruggs in 1949. Like that classic banjo, this one has a mahogany neck and resonator and the Flying Eagle inlay pattern in the fretboard, which was usually found on higher-end banjos like the Granada. The GF-100FE has a 3-ply maple shell, a 20-hole cast bronze flathead tone ring, a die-cast 1-piece flange and a neck profile patterned on a genuine 1930s Gibson RB-3. This banjo has that classic flathead bluegrass banjo tone at a price that won’t break the bank. This distributor prices this banjo without a case, but we think a fine banjo in this price range deserves protection, so we've priced it including a good hardshell.
