Details
The Sierra is Deering’s most popular professional grade banjo and after playing one you can see why. First of all, it has Deering's complete "tone package," which includes a 3-ply violin-grade maple rim, their own -06- 20 Hole Bell Bronze Tone Ring, and a cast zinc resonator flange. The fretboard features inlays designed by Greg Deering that are inspired by the fancy banjos built in Boston in the early part of the 20th century. The difference between this Sierra and Deering’s more expensive models is cosmetic. The Sierra has a satin finish and no binding on the neck, two things that are time consuming to do and consequently are expensive to do. But if a well built banjo with solid bluegrass tone is what you're after, this Sierra has all the necessary ingredients.
