Details
The basic MT model is where Collings mandolins begin in terms of pricing, but thankfully Collings offers a number of options that take it up a notch or two without making their basic A model too expensive. This example has a couple of our favorite upgrades: Ivoroid binding on the top edge, and a black gloss top. Black top mandolins, of course, date back to some of the early instruments by Orville Gibson in the 1890s, and they have a classic, timeless vibe. Like all Collings instruments, this MT is impeccably crafted. The top is Engelmann spruce and the back and sides are Eastern maple that feature some nice figure. This is a great sounding mandolin with a bright, clear tone and lots of volume. Includes a hardshell case.
