The Collings LC models are built using laminated construction techniques but they aren’t using the process to cut corners. Each LC model's top and back is laminated in-house at the Collings workshop in Austin, and the grain direction and thickness of the layers is the result of much research by the late Bill Collings. The latest addition to the I-35 series is the Vintage. For this model, Collings refined everything from the laminates to the center block design to the neck construction. The LC Vintage is fitted with Throbak ESG-102B pickups, which have been tweaked to Collings’ specifications. The finish is subtly checked and the metal hardware is lightly aged, which gives the guitar a vintage vibe. The Collings LC Vintage is our most popular semi-hollow Collings model but you probably wouldn’t know that because they have all sold almost as soon as they have been listed. Hopefully this faded cherry beauty sticks around for a while so more of you get a chance to play it and hear how good it sounds.
