Details
his Collings I-35 LC Vintage was made in Austin, Texas and it features a lightly aged blond finish. The finish is subtly checked and the metal hardware is lightly aged, which gives the guitar a vintage vibe. This guitar is fitted with a pair of ThroBak ESG-102B humbuckers, which are custom wound for Collings. This is one of those guitars we don’t like to pick up because it sounds so good it’s hard to put down.
The Collings LC models more closely follow the design of the original Gibson semi-hollow body guitars of the late'50s/early'60s because of their laminated construction. But when you hear the term "laminated" it's easy to assume "oh, plywood, then" but Collings isn't using the lamination process to cut corners. Each LC model's top and back is laminated in-house at the Collings workshop in Austin, and the grain direction and thickness of the layers is the result of much research by the late Bill Collings. The laminated maple top has a "combed" maple center block. This guitar has all the fit-and-finish detail that has made Collings famous. Includes the original hardshell case.
