Details
This custom Taylor Grand Auditorium was made in 2020 and it’s a very cool guitar. From time to time Taylor comes across a small amount of special wood and they’ll make a short run of guitars out of it. In this case, they had enough quilted sapele to make 50 instruments, which they paired with bearclaw Engelmann spruce top. This is an exciting guitar to see in person because the figure in the sapele in the back and sides seems to be gracefully moving when viewed from any angle. Happily, this guitar sounds as good as it looks. Sapele has a clear, focused tone similar to mahogany with a bit of extra sparkle in the high end. This works well with the Engelmann spruce top, which has mellow, creamy timbre. This guitar is in excellent structural and cosmetic condition and the frets show just a hint of wear. The original hardshell case is equally clean.
