The combination of a redwood top and short string scale makes for a full, rich tone from a guitar that responds to the lightest touch and is remarkably easy to play. Richard Hoover has always championed mahogany, as he feels it doesn't get the respect it deserves among the more exotic, and expensive, tone woods. This Custom OM has excellent balance and clarity, a fine example of mahogany treated right. Almost zero signs of playing or handling wear, essentially a new guitar that lived somewhere else for 6 years.
