This is a very plainly appointed mandolin, and the dark stain with low gloss finish almost hides the highly figured maple on the back, sides, and neck. But don't let the appearance fool you, this Collings MT has the same quality woods and workmanship as their models with glossy finishes, binding, and pearl inlays. It has been played but fret wear is minor, and assorted nicks and dings to the finish are light (no cracks and no sign of repairs). If you're looking for tone, volume, and playability without emptying your bank account this ten years-old MT is a serious contender.
