Details
This F-style was handcrafted in 2010 by Oregon luthier Howard Morris. This is a fine mandolin and it plays beautifully with a well-defined, woody tone. The wide grained spruce top is matched with figured maple back and sides. It has very stripped down ornamentation. There is no binding on the top, back sides, neck or headstock and the logo and peghead design are both decals rather than inlays. The blond finish is very thin and it’s settled into the grain giving the instrument a nice patina. This mandolin does not have an adjustable truss rod but it is straight and is quite sturdy. The frets are in good shape and show just a little wear. The fretboard is flat with no radius. There are no cracks but there are some scratches next to the F-holes that indicate bridge placement. We don’t know if these are original or were done by the previous owner. Includes a hardshell case.
