Details
The Super 400 is Gibson’s most elegant standard model of guitar and one that sounds as good as it looks. This sunburst example was crafted in 2002 and it has one of the nicest, tightly flamed maple back and sides we have seen. Along with its standard orange serial number label, it has a second label signed and dated by Jim "Hutch" Hutchins, who had been with Gibson for decades and watched over the company's big carved top models like a hawk and made sure the quality was top notch.
The condition on this one is excellent both cosmetically and structurally. There is just one filled ding near the edge of the top on the bass side that is a bit larger than a match-head. This guitar has been fitted with a Faber ABR bridge on the original Gibson bridge base which solves the usual rattle. It has only the slightest fret wear and no tarnishing to the gold metal parts. All the paperwork and the COA are in the original case, which has a few stickers on the lid. Also, it looks like the previous owner added some color to the gold Gibson stencil on the top. This is a great example of an iconic Gibson model, the most expensive guitar in their catalog for many years and the flagship of their electric archtop guitar line.
