Details
A fine example of the second generation Contreras guitars (Manuel Contreras II's father, who died in 1994, was the most famous Spanish guitar maker of the post-'50s era). Alas, Manuel Contreras II died in 2011, approximately ten years after this example was made. The Contreras workshop continues to offer excellent classical and flamenco models.
This Manuel Contreras II C4 is made with European spruce and East Indian rosewood. It's in excellent and original condition, with only a very few light finger dings to the face below the high E string. The finish on the back has some slight swirls from shirt buttons that you have to look carefully to detect. It has the robust tone typical of true Spanish classicals made with these woods, with lots of individual note clarity and plenty of volume.
