Now here’s a rare bird. This DV-72 NT HG was built in 1993, the first year of issue. (The NT means Natural Top and the HG means High Gloss.) It's essentially a fancy D-55, which means it has a Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides but with turquoise inlays in the fretboard and soundhole rosette instead of abalone. It also has turquoise triangles in the bridge tips and Grover Super Rotomatics with Imperial buttons. The result is such a cool look we're surprised they didn't make more of them. The general consensus among Guild fans is that only 200 of this model were made. This example is a one-owner guitar, and if not for advancing age and hand issues that owner would still be playing it.
It's original throughout with the exception of the L R Baggs ribbon transducer pickup. There's some light pick and finger scuffs to the top around the pickguard, but nothing deep or unsightly, and there are also a few finish crazing lines to the lacquer on the top. This has been played, so note the fret wear but thankfully the frets were nice and tall to start with so there's a lot of fret left even where they are worn. No cracks anywhere, so signs of repairs, neck angle and string action are both excellent and it comes with an original Guild hardshell case.
