Details
This is one of the cleanest Brazilian Martin D-28s we've had in some time, and the fact it's crack-free is a nice plus. It was recently given a professional neck reset and refret so it plays like a new guitar. At some point, the original black acetate pickguard curled, a common situation, and was replaced. All other parts are original, including the finish. All bracing is original with no sign of repairs.
This D-28 has a narrower neck than standard (by 1/16" at the nut). The finish on the neck appears original and our guess is that the craftsman shaping this neck took an extra stroke with the drawknife on the treble side, and of course compared to Gibson's far slimmer necks from 1967 this one feels almost meaty! It helps to remember that Martin necks were still shaped by hand at this point (and would be for at least another decade). This has that classic Brazilian rosewood Martin dreadnought tone, with the strong bottom end that has made them legendary. Comes with the original Victoria hardshell case.
