This is one of the last slope-shoulder versions of the J-160E before Gibson changed the model to a square-shoulder D shape and its Beatles-era charm was lost. No doubt about it, these are odd guitars, with a laminated top and 15 frets clear of the body as well as that tell-tale P-90 pickup just above the soundhole. Acoustically it's nothing to rave about, as the top is also ladder-braced, but when you plug it in, well, let's just say there's nothing else quite like it and if you want that unique sound there's no other way to get it.
This has the original tuners, frets, pickguard, and bridge, plus the original pickup. Finish on the back has been over sprayed (professional job that looks right)). A bridge reglue was not as neatly done, so there are some glue smears on the finish around the bridge and a small chip along the front edge. With its slim neck on smooth jumbo frets this is a very easy guitar to play.
