Details
This Gibson ES-335TD was built in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1968 and it’s spent its life since then in the hands of the original owner, who has always lived in the Bay Area. Happily, while he did play this guitar he took good care of it and never felt the need to monkey with it. Consequently, this guitar still has all of its original parts, which is a rare thing these days. It’s fitted with a pair of patent-number humbuckers, which sound fabulous. Thanks to the chrome-plated metal parts and the well-maintained lacquer surface, it shows few signs of its age except the typical crazing to the finish, and even that is far less than what you see on most Gibsons from 55 years ago. About the only sign of wear is to the pickguard, which originally had the "sonic waves" Gibson stencil which only appeared for about a year (it wasn't popular at the time and lots of players buffed it off). You have to hold it to the light just so to see the faint outline of the logo. Even the original frets show very very little wear, proof the original owner had a light touch. The hardshell case lacks any Gibson logo, but was purchased at the same time and is a nearly ideal fit. And it even comes with the curly cable the previous owner got when he bought the guitar.
