Details
It's been a long time since Gryphon had a TB-5 and this one is a beauty. The gold plating was nicely redone many years ago, neck has been refretted and oversprayed, with the fingerboard binding redone with ivoroid. Neck is straight and the banjo is very playable. Original Planet tuners with MOP buttons, all other metal hardware appears original as well. Resonator and shell have original finish, the resonator's varnish has the usual crazing. See photo #25, showing the gold-plated Sullivan conversion tone ring that's specifically made to convert spring-and-ball tone ring Mastertones to a flat-head. The engraving doesn't match the original engraving on the 1925 metal parts as shown but the engraved pattern on the tone ring does fit nicely between the hooks and will look fine.
